Inside The endocannabinoid system

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex cell-signaling system that helps regulate your body functions, including sleep and mood, among others. It was identified in the early 1990s by researchers exploring THC, a well-known cannabinoid. Cannabinoids are compounds found in cannabis.

How does this apply to pets?

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) has been found to be present in vertebrates (mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish) and invertebrates (sea urchins, leeches, mussels, nematodes, and others). It regulates sleep, appetite, behavior, and multiple metabolic processes. The ECS also plays an important role in pathologies that affect other organs and systems, working to restore homeostasis. The cannabinoid aids in anxiety reduction, reducing imflammation, pain relief and appetite regulation. CBD is an amazing source of relief and regulation for your furry friends.

What is the entourage effect?

The entourage effect is the theory that the full spectrum of the cannabis plant works best together – the interaction between all of the compounds from a cannabis plant, such as phytocannabinoids and terpenes, come together to enhance their effects.
